[None][perf] Build GDN verify-path intermediate state indices once per step - #18820
Conversation
WalkthroughThe Mamba mixer now resolves speculative-verification intermediate-state indices once per verification step. Decode and mixed prefill/decode paths reuse these indices. Tests cover undersized cache-manager buffers and cached fallback storage. ChangesMamba verification index reuse
Priority: ⬇️ Low Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes Change: Refactor Suggested reviewers: Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to Add regression coverage for index propagation through both verification paths before merge. Without it, a path-specific change can cause runtime failures when intermediate buffers are enabled. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 4 | ❌ 1❌ Failed checks (1 warning)

…r step The speculative-verify path rebuilt arange(num_decodes) with torch.arange in every GDN layer (four call sites) to index the batch-scoped intermediate conv/SSM buffers. Resolve it once in forward_core and pass it via kwargs: use the cache-manager-owned intermediate_state_indices buffer when present, else a process-cached arange, as Mamba2Mixer already does. Values are unchanged; this only removes per-layer launches and allocations. Signed-off-by: nv-guomingz <137257613+nv-guomingz@users.noreply.github.com>

Summary
The speculative-verify path of the Qwen3-Next / Qwen3.5 GDN mixer indexes the batch-scoped intermediate conv/SSM buffers with
arange(num_decodes), and rebuilt that vector withtorch.arangein every GDN layer, at four call sites, on every verify step (30 extra tiny launches plus allocations per MTP step on Qwen3.6-35B-A3B).This PR resolves the index vector once in
forward_coreand passes it through the existing kwargs:intermediate_state_indicesbuffer when present (allocated together with the intermediate buffers, so slicing it is a view with no launch),Mamba2Mixeralready uses.Values are unchanged; this is launch-count only.
Test Coverage

Whole file: 68 passed on B300.TestQwen3_5_35B_A3B::test_bf16_mtp(MTP3, GDN replay on, MambaHybridCacheManagerV2) on B200: baseline main 94.43 / patched 95.00 (threshold 91.33).PR Checklist
[None][perf] ...Performance
Neutral within noise, as expected for a change that only removes launches which CUDA-graph replay had already amortized. Measured on Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-NVFP4, 1x B200, TP1, CUTEDSL MoE, MTP3,
trtllm-serve+benchmark_serving, warm-up launch discarded then B/A/B/A alternation (A = main, B = this PR). iter/s = output tok/s divided by mean accepted tokens per iteration.Graph-replayed verify steps see no difference; the saved per-layer
torch.arangeonly costs host time on eager verify steps (mixed chunked-prefill + verify batches, uncaptured batch sizes). The change is therefore launch-hygiene plus parity withMamba2Mixer, not a throughput claim.Dev Engineer Review
