[None][feat] Add configurable SWA endpoint retention priority - #19670
Conversation
Add the prototype swa_endpoint_rewind_tokens option to BlockReuseConfig. With KV cache manager V2, block reuse, and the all_reusable policy enabled, positive values prioritize sink blocks and SWA blocks near the reusable prompt endpoint. The default value of zero leaves eviction behavior unchanged. Validate incompatible configurations, document the option, and add focused configuration and callback tests. Update the telemetry golden manifest. Signed-off-by: Xiao Wang <24860335+xwang233@users.noreply.github.com>

Suggested reviewers: Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to A boolean value for the rewind-token setting could be accepted and enable endpoint priorities instead of failing validation. The impact is narrow and easy to fix, but it should be addressed before merge. Adding an allocation-level priority test would also increase confidence in the feature. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 4 | ❌ 1❌ Failed checks (1 warning)

KV cache manager V2 currently provides no endpoint-specific configuration to
favor SWA blocks near a reusable prompt endpoint. This change adds the prototype
kv_cache_config.block_reuse_config.swa_endpoint_rewind_tokens setting to
control that preference.
A positive value assigns priority 70 to newly created sink pages and SWA
pages overlapping the final SWA window plus the configured rewind range,
measured from the prompt prefix excluding the final token that is recomputed.
Other newly created SWA pages receive priority 0; full-attention and other
life cycles retain the default priority 35. Blocks remain reusable until
evicted, with LRU ordering within each priority class and eviction pool.
The endpoint is fixed for the request and does not advance during decoding.
Existing reused pages retain their assigned priorities, without automatic
promotion or demotion on subsequent turns. This does not change attention
windows or prefix matching or guarantee residency.
The default value of zero disables the entire endpoint-priority callback.
The option requires KV cache manager V2, block reuse, and the all_reusable
policy. Incompatible explicit settings and automatic resolution to V1 are
rejected. Dummy and draft requests are excluded.
The change includes documentation, configuration validation and callback
tests, and the new telemetry golden-manifest entry.
Validation:

selection, callback boundaries, and activation conditions.

Dev Engineer Review
The reported feature adds configurable priority for newly created SWA endpoint and sink pages. Positive values require block reuse,
all_reusable, and KV cache manager V2; the callback excludes dummy and draft requests and does not reprioritize reused pages. The checked-out diff shows onlytensorrt_llm/llmapi/llm_args.pymodified, with broad formatting changes; the other feature files described in the supplied change summary are not part of that diff. Review findings and test results are unavailable.QA Engineer Review
The supplied change summary describes tests for configuration defaults, serialization, invalid values, manager selection, endpoint priority, and callback eligibility. However, the checked-out diff modifies no test files, so these test changes cannot be confirmed as part of the current diff.
