Louisiana workforce leaders traveled to South Korea to strengthen workforce partnerships supporting Hyundai Steel's historic investment in Ascension Parish. Secretary Susana Schowen and Deputy Secretary Osmar Padilla joined a Louisiana delegation to meet with Hyundai Steel leadership and tour the company's advanced manufacturing and research facilities, gaining insight into the workforce needed to support its first U.S. integrated steel mill. As one of Louisiana's largest advanced manufacturing investments moves forward, Louisiana Works is collaborating with employers, educators, and community partners to align workforce training, expand work-based learning, and prepare more Louisianans for high-quality manufacturing careers.

Louisiana Works reposted this
Today is a proud moment for Louisiana’s workforce system. I am honored to have been part of the grant team that helped develop and secure a $5.1 million award through the U.S. Department of Labor’s RESTART Initiative. Louisiana was selected as one of a limited number of states to receive this highly competitive funding opportunity, and I am grateful to have played a role in bringing this investment to our state. This award represents the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to creating pathways to opportunity. Through the partnership between Louisiana Works and the Louisiana Board of Regents, RESTART will expand access to career coaching, occupational training, work-based learning, supportive services, and employment opportunities for individuals returning from incarceration. What makes this accomplishment especially meaningful is the impact it will have on real people, families, communities, and employers across Louisiana. By connecting individuals with high-demand career pathways and Registered Apprenticeship opportunities, we are helping build a stronger workforce while creating second chances. I am thankful for the dedication and teamwork of everyone who contributed to this effort. This is what workforce development is all about: creating access, opening doors, and helping people achieve their potential. #LouisianaWorks #WorkforceDevelopment #RegisteredApprenticeship #RESTART #SecondChanceHiring #CareerPathways #Louisiana

We heard your questions. As Louisiana transitions to the new Work Permit Process, we've received several questions from parents, students, employers, schools, and workforce partners. To help, we've compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions, including: ✔️ What's changed? ✔️ Can schools still access the work permit portal? ✔️ Can schools continue using the old Application to Employ Minor form? ✔️ Are existing work permits still valid? ✔️ Does the new process apply to CTE Employment Certificates? ✔️ How can employers verify a minor's age? Review the FAQ for more information. If you still have questions, we're here to help. 📧 EmploymentCertificate@la.gov 📞 225-342-2683
