AI in education is not a someday story—it is already here. Nine in 10 leaders, educators, and students have used AI for school, and 70% of job skills are expected to change by 2030. New Microsoft research breaks down the five shifts redrawing what it means to be “work-ready”—and why the most in-demand AI skills are fundamentally human. What if, instead of preparing students to adapt to AI, we empowered them to shape how it evolves? The AILit Framework is now available! Developed by the European Commission and the OECD, with CodeAI (formerly Code.org) and international experts, it defines the knowledge, skills, and attitudes students need to navigate and actively participate in a world influenced by AI. Built with input from educators and stakeholders worldwide, the framework reflects real classroom priorities and the opportunities and challenges of AI in education. Explore the framework at ailiteracyframework.org ! Want to learn more? Check out our webinars! https://lnkd.in/eSCw4UmY #AILiteracy #AILitFramework

Education leaders are facing a defining question: How do you build AI readiness at scale—without losing sight of human outcomes? The answer isn’t more technology investment alone. It’s about aligning AI strategy to institutional priorities: • Student success • Workforce alignment • Human skill development • Responsible, governed adoption Done right, these aren’t trade-offs—they reinforce each other. Because preparing students for the future of work is ultimately about preparing them for a life of adaptability and impact. 👉 Read the 5 foundations shaping this shift: https://msft.it/6044vYcus

I had a chat with Matt Jubelirer from Microsoft at Red Bull Basement about the future of education. If you're like me and have kids, and wonder what we should be teaching them to be prepared for the future, you'll enjoy our chat!

What does “keeping up” with security alerts actually look like for your team right now? In May, we talked about identity and access. Now we’re building on that—looking at how schools are using automation to keep up without adding headcount. On June 23, we’ll walk through how Microsoft Defender XDR helps teams investigate and respond faster using a “self-healing” approach. This year’s graduates are sending a clear message about AI and jobs. We should listen. They’re reminding us that AI should serve people, not replace them. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and organization to achieve more. That means helping people build the skills to use technology to create new opportunities. If we’re not doing that, we’re not doing our job. Read my full blog here: https://lnkd.in/eiJqUSSy

This time of year, I’m reminded of the mix of possibility and uncertainty I felt at my own graduation. A lot has changed since then, but what hasn’t is the opportunity education leaders have to shape how students step into what comes next. The most impactful experiences for graduates today connect learning to real work. They need hands-on projects, exposure to tools like AI, and strong relationships they can carry forward beyond campus. From Microsoft AI Skills Fest and our Student Ambassadors program to tools like the Study and Learn Agent in Microsoft Copilot, the resources covered in this blog are designed to help students and early graduates start their careers with confidence: https://lnkd.in/guzpBszZ What programs, tools, or experiences have made the greatest difference for students at your institution?

The difference between AI projects that scale and those that stall is often a mindset shift. You can’t focus on technology alone. The organizations I see pulling ahead lead with outcomes, using AI to reimagine how decisions are made, how teams operate, and how value is created. That’s the idea behind Frontier Transformation, and the University of Kentucky is a powerful example of what it looks like in practice. Higher education has always been a proving ground for new thinking, but the same blueprint applies across industries: align AI to real outcomes, embed it into everyday workflows, set clear guardrails, and empower the people closest to the work to innovate responsibly.
