Geometric Genus

The geometric genus of a smooth projective variety X is the dimension of its space of top-degree holomorphic forms,

 p_g(X)=h^0(X,K_X).

For an integral projective curve it is the genus of its algebraic normalization (Huybrechts 2016). For surfaces, the condition p_g=0 is the hypothesis in the Bloch conjecture.
