Release Notes

Patch has five surfaces, each released as its own package with its own version and tag. Each surface has a page with its full notes. This page lists releases across all surfaces, newest first, and the version requirements between them. Shorter summaries and install links are on GitHub Releases.

Upgrade order and compatibility

Surfaces are versioned independently. A newer server accepts requests from older SDKs and CLIs, so upgrading the server does not break apps already in the field. An older server is not guaranteed to work with a newer SDK or CLI. If an SDK or CLI version needs a newer server, its entry says so at the top, and the table below lists those requirements.

Upgrade the server first, then the CLI, then ship app builds with the new SDK. Each server entry starts with an upgrade impact section that lists migrations, configuration changes, and service restarts.

What shipped

19th October 2026

• Server 0.7.0: Deployment and release pages fetch only the selected chart range; backups restart the exact container they stopped; migration 0018 drops an unused column from metric_event, so rolling back to an older image breaks metrics ingest.
• CLI 0.7.0: member remove, member update, member invite-revoke, and token revoke confirm unless --yes (breaking for scripts); server status, team list / show, and app transfer; deployment timeseries and failure drill-down from the CLI; binary version filters on release list.
• React Native SDK 0.5.1: React Native 0.88 and Expo SDK 58; stalled metrics uploads no longer block update checks, downloads, or other SDK calls.
• Capacitor SDK 0.1.1: Stalled metrics uploads no longer block plugin calls or update downloads.
• CLI for Capacitor 0.2.0: JSON output when stdout is piped (breaking for scripts that read text); new cmpatch-capacitor doctor.

6th October 2026

• Capacitor SDK 0.1.0: First published version. OTA updates for the web assets of Capacitor and Ionic apps, using the same protocol and server as the React Native SDK.
• CLI for Capacitor 0.1.0: First published version. cmpatch-capacitor publishes and manages releases for Capacitor apps. Requires server 0.6.0.
• Server 0.6.0: Stores each app's framework and shows framework-specific commands in the dashboard; binary version filter for deployment adoption and release history; full bundle and diff download sizes on release detail; migration 0017 adds a column to app.
• CLI 0.6.0: App lists, pickers, init, and doctor show React Native apps only; Capacitor apps are managed with cmpatch-capacitor.

2nd October 2026

• Server 0.5.1: The bundled MinIO images are no longer available to pull, so the stack now uses PGSTY Silo images. Backups restart only the server service.

23rd September 2026

• CLI 0.5.0: cmpatch wire installs and configures the SDK; GitLab and Bitbucket sign-in in the self-host wizard; React Native 0.87 support in release-react.
• React Native SDK 0.5.0: Patch.wrap(App); configurable launch attempts before rollback; lifecycle events renamed to Ready and Applied. Requires server 0.5.0; upgrade the server before shipping an app build with this SDK.
• Server 0.5.0: GitLab sign-in; command palette and adoption charts in the dashboard; migration 0016 rebuilds a metrics index and can take a while on a large history.

14th September 2026

• CLI 0.4.0: cmpatch demo runs an OTA update on a simulator; cmpatch doctor checks the SDK integration; R2, S3, GCS, and DNS setup in the install wizard.
• React Native SDK 0.4.0: isNextVersionReady(); embedded revert honors the install mode.
• Server 0.4.0: Private internal bucket with S3_INTERNAL_BUCKET; dashboard themes; delivery metrics cleanup; localhost HTTP install for testing.

7th September 2026

• CLI 0.3.0: cmpatch selfhost install wizard; cmpatch selfhost local-eval without cloning the repo.
• React Native SDK 0.3.0: Failed installs include diagnostic details; three launches before a crash rollback.
• Server 0.3.0: CloudFront delivery; failure details in the dashboard; installs that later succeed no longer count as failures; Status page. If you use Cloudflare, remove the old .json Cache Rule after upgrading; see the server notes.

25th August 2026

• CLI 0.2.0: Prompts for missing flags; fingerprint mismatch asks before publishing; release metrics shows failure reasons.
• Server 0.2.0: block_on_fingerprint_mismatch on uploads; failure_reasons in the metrics API; external Postgres and object storage in Compose.

22nd August 2026

• React Native SDK 0.2.0: getRunningBundleUpdateMetadata() reports the running OTA bundle.
