WordPress Origin Story

When I was in engineering college, I was always fascinated with web development and programming. During one of the summer vacations, I did a course on learning PHP, as I always loved PHP over Microsoft technologies like ASP.NET, C# as it is open source and possibilities are limitless.

After learning the basic PHP it simply blew my mind that so many things can be done with that language and then I started learning more PHP. Finally, I thought I should make my own website but was thinking about how can I easily manage my content? Otherwise, I either have to edit my own PHP files or run DB queries.
At that time, I found WordPress, and initially, I found it really hard to learn it (in terms of programming) as there was a theme architecture, plugin architecture, hooks, taxonomies, so many things to learn. I really started feeling whether I will ever be able to learn it.

But despite all this, I started coding, failing, coding again and so on in an endless loop. Even after using WordPress for decades and being an owner of a web solutions company that deals with all these things every day, I still feel I just know the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more to learn. But I truly wanna thanks to all people who make and maintain WordPress for free. They are true heroes.
