The Jetpack plugin has disappeared from my WordPress admin and I am not able to install Jetpack, because it says: Installation failed, file already exists. However, I cannot find Jetpack in my plugins anywhere. Jetpack debug is not working (I get an error message) and when I log into Jetpack it says it can’t connect to my website. I found out when I realized I had lost the Facebook share button on the single post page. Can someone tell me how what may have happened and how to fix this?

    Thank you!

    Hi @feudette –

This sounds like a frustrating issue! We’re happy to work with you to get Jetpack connected and your sharing buttons active again

As a next step here, I’d recommend logging in to your server via FTP or SSH to see if the wp-content/plugins/jetpack folder is still there. If it is, you can delete it (all settings are stored on our servers) and then reinstall Jetpack via WP Admin.

If you don’t have FTP or SSH access (or if you aren’t comfortable with it), you’ll want to reach out to your hosting provider. They should be able to help you remove the existing files so that you can reinstall.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, this solution worked! The only problem now is that when sharing to Facebook, it won’t share the link or image properly. This happened many times before. I really don’t understand why that is such a struggle always and takes hours to fix each time. But the button has reappeared, thank you!

    Hi @feudette,

Glad to hear Jetpack is back!

For the Facebook sharing issue, could you send us a link to one of the posts where this is happening, and let us know what you see when you try to share it to Facebook? A screenshot of the incorrect Facebook preview would also be really helpful.

That should help us narrow down whether the issue is with the link/image Facebook is picking up or with the sharing process itself.

    Hi Alin,

I think I have solved it ! Purging cache and Facebook debugger weren’t working, but just updated all plugins and that seemed to have fixed it (for now at least, as this seems to be a constant issue). Cheers!
