Two things I have been reflecting on a bit. Gwen Miller, who works in strategy and operations at Theorist, spent three years running a secret YouTube channel that nobody knew about. She wanted to know what it felt like to host, how uploading worked, every part of the process. She said if you know how all the pieces are made you can lead a team better. It taught her more than anything else. Adrian Lurie, co-founder of Dragonfruit, creates a burner YouTube account for every single client. They watch videos as if they were the ideal viewer for that brand, then refresh the homepage over and over to see what YouTube is actually surfacing at scale. Different methods. Same instinct. Gwen Miller shared thisBig milestone for Team Theorist this weekend: we officially launched TheoryVerse, our new fan society. At Theorist Media we’ve always had an audience that doesn’t just watch our content, they participate in it. They theorize, debate, solve puzzles, challenge assumptions, and genuinely help shape the community around our channels. TheoryVerse gives us the opportunity to build a deeper, more direct relationship with our audience while also giving us more room to experiment creatively through ad-free viewing, exclusive shows, behind-the-scenes access, and new ways for our audience to engage directly with Team Theorist and each other. And we launched in the most Theorist way possible: with a multi-week ARG that led our most dedicated fans through puzzles, ciphers, and clues to discover the platform early. Importantly, launching a memberships platform isn’t about moving away from what already exists, it’s about building on top of it. Our regular content will continue as usual on YouTube. Huge thank you to the incredible team that brought this to life. Launching something like this takes an enormous cross-functional effort, and I’m incredibly proud of what we built together. Special shoutout to Amy Roberts, who led this massive project from start to finish and kept us all moving to make it happen. The Industry Shift is a one-day event closing the translation gap between traditional media and the creator economy. Gwen Miller reacted on thisGwen Miller reacted on thisSocial media is a necessary evil. an ugly stepchild we keep around to stay relevant and informed. & I'm speaking at Vidcon this year about how to get the most out this ugly stepchild. I've used content as a "means to an end" my entire career, from building the largest organic philanthropic channel in the world with MrBeast, to educating business owners with the Hormozis and now at Owner. The dirty secret is that almost nobody inherently enjoys making content. & I think content is inherently destructive to our collective consciousness. We're caught in a tech giant arms race to the bottom of the brainstem. What's the solution? If you're going to be making content, figure out a way to maximize net impact both on your enterprise value & on the world. I’m speaking at two panels to share tactical takeaways on how to do so: 1) Metrics That Matter: encore round this year with the OGs Josiah Hritsko and Gwen Miller -- I'll be talking specifically about AI use cases for media teams to make better decisions around metrics. AI, if used right, can drive faster growth, reduce recency bias, and smooth out the consistency of your brad growth. 2) B2B Creator Ecosystems B2B content is a totally different ball game. Instead of optimizing for impressions for sponsor CPMs, you're initiating a complex customer journey and activating users who fall in love with your brand & tell their friends. But you have to do so efficiently. Because the only thing worse than putting out a video out there that goes nowhere... is spending your (or your investor's) hard earned money on a video that goes nowhere -- ps they want me to tell you to buy a pro pass - both my sessions are on Thursday industry track. 1145am and 4:15pm respectively. don't be a stranger, say hi! catch y'all in Anaheim where I will be filling free tote bags from vendors with free swag from other vendors I will never wear again.
